Ariana's appointment yesterday went really well. Like supernaturally well. Thanks God!
I stayed up the night before nursing Ariana every 2 hours until midnight, when she had to start fasting to help her have a reserve to live off of for a while. I finally got to sleep about 1am, then woke up at 5 to get ready to go. Thankfully Ariana's not a huge eater anyways, so she didn't notice that she didn't get breakfast before we left. We arrived at the endocrinology office at about 745, and got in about 8. We had to do the whole weigh in, check height, and all that before hand. The nurse, Niki, who is FABULOUS, came in with the needle about 845.
Let me tell you that Trevor and I were NERVOUS. Ariana has a horrible history with needles. The nurses or phlebotomists never can find a vein. They end up poking her and digging around in her arms at least 5 times to get anything, then her veins always burst. It's always a torture trying to get her blood drawn. But these two nurses got a good vein on the first try! It was more than we could've prayed for. (actually, it was exactly what we prayed for!) As soon as Trevor picked her up, she was fine. No more tears. Then we got settled in our little shoe box of an office that was to be our home for the next 5 hours. The first medicine that they pumped her full off made her sick, and she threw up once. But then she was fine. We spent the first half an hour there, then after the blood draw (through the iv), we walked around.
The main problem of the day was that Ariana's blood sugars kept crashing. She's so tiny, and once her little belly is empty, it's empty. There is nothing for her to exist on. So she kept getting hot, and sweaty, pale and faint. Then we's have to give her juice, and she'd be fine for a bout an half hour, then she'd crash again. So we kept having to give her juice, and check her blood sugars.
So all in all, she got only 1 needle hole in her arm, and about 9 finger sticks for blood sugar checks.
Afterwards, we went across the street to Chipotle for lunch before we went home.
We find out the results for the hormone tests in about 10 days, and the results of genetic and chromosomal testing in 6-8 weeks.
My mom stayed with the boys all morning, and on our way she called to ask how things were things were going. I guess Ryan made her, since he was literally worrying himself sick wondering how "his" Peanut was doing. He kept saying: "There are 3 kids in our family, but with Sissy gone there is only 2, and it's too lonely." He's got such a sensitive and sweet heart.
Thanks for prayers, we felt them for sure. And keep it up, since we don't have test results yet.
Ephesians 3:20-21. "Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
Ella has the same problem with needles…it's total torture! Amazing they got it on the first try! So happy it went well. Praying the results come back sooner than later!
